Headlights and foglights not working

On the 88 Turbo Coupe that I just bought, the headlights and foglights are not working. I knew this when I bought it. The flash to pass function does work so I know the headlight bulbs are working. Since all of these circuits pass through the multifunction switch, I am thinking it must be the issue. I haven't pulled it yet to see. Any thoughts or experience on this issue?

MFS would be my guess. Before replacing it I would use a test light to be sure the headlight switch is sending power to the MFS when the headlight switch is turned on. I have had more issues with the headlight switches on the Aerobirds than I have had with the MFS.

I didn't get a chance to work on it today, but because both the fog lights and headlights aren't working and both circuits pass through the MFS, that's why I am suspecting that. I have a bunch of spares so I will likely just try that first.

Turns out it was some sort of combination of the MFS and the plug that goes into it. The plug was blistered at the red / yellow wire. I put another switch in, but had to push really hard on the plug to get a good connection. May not have been the MFS, just the connection. I'm gonna check it on another parts car that I have.

Please consider Jeff’s conversion to a relay setup for the fog lights—perhaps, whilst you are working in this area.

The fog lights draw a lot of amps, which is very hard on the ignition switch. This setup wires in a relay that removes that load from the switch—instead, powering on the switch energizes the relay, not the fog lights. The high amperage current now comes from the mains, through the relay; a fuse is included to protect the circuit.

I have gone through 3 ignition switch connectors, their contacts badly burned and melted from the current draw. I made Jeff’s modification in 2015. Recently when I was having starter issues I wanted to replace the switch...but it was like new. This would have been unheard of before.
