Headlights

My headlights go out while driving and can only get them on buy pulling and holding the turn signal lever. I recently replaced the ignition electrical switch trying to cure the dash lights and radio not shutting off with the ignition off and that changed nothing.
Any help greatly appreciated

Do you run your fog lights at the same time?
The headlights have a breaker in the circuit and if it overheats it kicks out.

When you pull on the turn signal, are you engaging the flash to pass circuit (high beams come on) or do the low beams come on??

If the low beams come on, it sounds like the muntifunction switch (turn signal switch) is bad. Replace it. Also be sure to check the MFS connector for signs of overheating and corrosion while you have it apart.

The high beams come on and then after a while the low beams come back on. The car won't start now and all it does is set while the starter relay clicks over and over with a full charge on the battery or on the charger. Changed the starter relay and still does it. Unless you guys have a fix for me she goes into the shop next week.
Thanks

If all connections to the battery, starter relay, and starter including battery grounds are good, you probably need a new starter.

The headlight switch and multifunction switch are overloaded by the power requirements of the headlight and fog lights. The circuit breaker on the headlight switch is opening turning off the low beams. The lights go on again when the breaker cools off. The flash to pass circuit uses a separate relay so the highs work when you pull the MFS. There is an article in the Tech section on adding two relays to the headlight circuit so the headlight switch doesn't carry the full current of the lights thereby saving the cost of a replacement switch and making the lights brighter.
