Hi everybody hope your having a good holiday weekend. Anywho,I just bought a new set of headlights and I was wandering how I should care for them so they don`t end up like the old ones. They cost to much to let them go out like that

Leave them in the box!

Seriously, it is sunlight and wind/ dirt abrasion that take the toll over time. Keep them clean and waxed will help some

theres some stuff you can get at autozoo that is designed for the lip of the hood, to prevent rock damage. its a thin(1/64ths i think)clear film. ive seen guys use it on the headlights, to keep them from getting chipped and pitted. when the plastic wears out, it just peels off with some glass cleaner. get one of the kits, and cut it to fit.

i feel your pain, though. i have a new set, in the box, Ford NOS, and REFUSE to even open them, cause my car isnt NEAR nice enough for them. the guy that gave them to me keeps asking me when ill put em on. if i EVER go to carlisle, then ill put em on for the weekend, then, back in the box...

What Pete said. After I polished out my lenses I applied a coat of polyurethane polish ( Liquid Glass, NuFinish, I think Turtlewax has a polish like that. It's in a green bottle.) on them, then once a week for a couple of months. That was over a year ago and they're still smooth and clear. I read a brochure on the Liquid Glass, and it said that 15 coats will repel sand and small rocks.

Well I went out and put one on today and it looked great, but,it made the two on either side of it look really bad. I know I can get the inners new, but, what about the outers? Will the ones off the same year cougar work? If so I made a really nice set of clear ones for my XR7 I can use.
