header panel!

I found this on ebay today, looks like a great deal. Even though my TC is about to get its motor swapped, I might snag one of these anyways. The same week my TC started knocking I was planning on buying a header panel for $250, now I see this one for only $99 with free shipping.... huh.

AFIK it's just a big fiberglass piece, right? will just have to get it painted up right to match, which could be kinda tough. Such a low price on this off of ebay makes me kinda scared, but I'm not sure what could be wrong with it.

here's a pic of the work that needs to be done.

Well my TC doesn't have a motor yet, but headway is being made for the body work :-)

The header panel came in the other day. Sure enough, looks perfect as far as i can tell. All the holes are drilled out and the whole piece seems pretty darn rigid, so I'm not afraid of it being a POS. I'm still shocked that this is new and was only $99 shipped to my door.

I was planning on painting this myself but I think now I might just give in and take it to a body shop to get painted up and matched right.

Nice price !!! It feels good to find what you need and save a lot of cash.I just bought (about a month ago) a brand new aftermarket '87/'88 TC header panel for my Bird.I ended up with a big hole in my TC header panel and just happened to be up late on a Sunday night, found it for $75.00 plus shipping.I took it.It doesn't have the indention for the Bird emblem, but,it seems more rigid than the OEM part, and fit great.

Wow you got a nice price too.

Since I have a grill to worry about, I'm having to swap out the t-bird emblems from my broken grill to the used '85 grill I got off ebay ($20) that's going on this new front panel.

Maybe I'll find some creative way to use the '85 bird emblem... I'm thinking something along the lines of putting it on the fan shroud since I like the looks of others who have put a bird under the hood.

Well,I'm really cheap.I've built my entire car for free....so to speak. Not a penny has come from our paychecks,it comes from selling parts on forums or Ebay, and trading, and the occasional parts you just get for free. It's been a long process, but worth the wait. The car looks great,it's strong and fast (surprised a LOT of Stang owners),and it's very functional and comfortable.

just for the fun I though I'd make note of a nice modded front end that I stumbled across a couple years ago. Someone might recognize it, I don't know whose car it was.

I also remember a recent thread with a modified header panel but don't remember much else, it was black TC. I think I'm going to stick with the original look on this one, as I'm trying to keep the look on my 84 as stock and classic.

The pic, I think it's a damn nice looking 84!

i'v done my 88 headerpannel with a huge crack in it but not nearly this bad, but it is sure worth a try.

Somebody needs to go back to school. LOL!!

I can find header panels all day long. Just the 87-88's are getting harder to find. You can just do what I did and use a NA header panel too. They are a dime a dozen.
Heres a pic on my sons car....
