Hey guys, its Justin from Bristol.
I was just wondering what gasket anyone uses that runs a header? (or if anyone doesn't use a gasket due to the fact that the head and header are true enough to not leak, like the E6) I am running a 3 layered steel gasket that is leaking basically on all cylinders. I have retightened it several times. any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Summit sells a copper gasket, any comments??
P.S: running 22psi boost making about 375-400rwhp. (not sure if this makes a difference.)

I would check the header flange with a good straight edge, if its warped, you might get it trued up. but copper gaskets do seem to work better were other gaskets would leak. also locking header bolts would help.

Okay thanks! I will check the header and see if its warped. I will be going with the Copper gasket from Summit then.
Thanks again.

^^^^ nor do I. I just put a THIN coat of high temp RTV on. Been off and on once since original install. Zero leaks.

I ordered the copper gasket for 35$. I'll try the no gasket/RTV first and see how that holds up. The header is a custom header. It's not your cheap evilbay header. The only issue is I do not have a brace mounted to the turbo to help hold everything up properly. It's basically held up by the header.
Not to change the subject of this topic, but will a leaking header like this kind of sound like a valve tick?

If it leaks it could sound like a lot of things depending on the size and location of the leak. Use an automotive stethoscope or screwdriver handle in the your ear to see it you can narrow the noise location down.

I could also pull each plug wire (one at a time of course) and see if the noise stops? This should tell which cylinder is leaking and would possibly rule out a lifter tick. Would this work?
As far as the gasket goes, I'm going to go with no gasket and see if it holds up.
