I know the cam out of the ford ranger will work on my87TC,but,can I use the entire head? That way i can have it redone while the other one is still in the car.If so what would be the best year?

You can do it. The cam needs to come from an 88 to 93 Ranger or a 91 to 93 Mustang 4 cylinder.
You can use the head but there are some things you need to be aware of. After 93 or 94 there were changes such that the later cam won't work without modifications.
The valves are not as heat resistant as the turbo valves, at least for the exhaust valves. Might want to stick in turbo exhaust valves. The compression is higher, therefore you may have to limit boost and/or ignition timing or you will get detonation. The NA heads don't flow as well but given the above and if you aren't running heavy mods, this probably won't be a short term issue.
Otherwise it's basically a bolt on

If it's only going to take you a couple weeks or so the redo the turbo head, just curb your enthusiasm and use the ranger head.

I dont know if its the same for the Ranger heads, but the NA heads from the Mustangs do not have a bolt hole for the TurboCoupe Upper front most hole. Had to drill, tap and load that bolt hole up with silicone when I installed it because it goes right through to the underneath the valve cover area where all the oil shoots around.

I believe this is the front hole where the front of the engine lift plate bolts as well...

sucks because I realized this after having $450 worth of headwork done, and was just ready to bolt the head on, but was held up to drill and tap it
