head gasket question

Hey guys,I'm replacing my head gasket and I noticed something, The holes on the gasket for the water jackets are very small. This looks like big flow restriction for the cooling system, especially in the head!
Do you think opening them up a bit would be a bad idea?

I'm not sure,this the gasket I blew.
I have not seen the Fel-pro 1035 yet so I'm not sure if there all like that.

Jerry, I thought you were asking about the new gasket. If you are going with the 1035, it will be fine out of the wrapper.

The holes are supposed to be that small. The holes in the block / head are made large to save weight, and to make them easier to cast. The small holes in the HG do restrict flow, but that is the way it is designed on purpose.

But what if I were to open them up a bit, would increased flow be a bad thing?
I think with as hot as those damn heads get, more coolant flow would disperse the heat better,or is there a reason for the restriction?
