i have been smelling anti freeze but cant find a leak anywhere then i just got a new tranny put in and drove it the other day for the first time in a while and smelled anti freeze opened the hood and heard a slight hissing from the exhaust side so i pulled out a flashlight and there is some anti freeze on the side of the block right behind the exhaust manifold and around the back by the firewall, my question is this, does this mean i have a bad seal on the headgasket, or is the head gasket bad, note the head gasket is one of those cometic ones that is steel or metal or something thank you

It could be a head gasket but there is also a coolant line that runs behind the head that could be rusted out. Check close before deciding.

Thanks on the engine. I would make sure both the head and the block are flat. When you take the head off, I would measure the breakaway torque of each headbolt just to see if they lost some torque and how much. Might help explain why it's leaking. I like the Felpor HGs but I don't have experience with anything else.
