Hey all,

Strangely, after less than a year and a half my Dynomax Ultraflo is deteriorating. I'm looking into a new muffler. Considering another Ultraflo, possibly a Walker Super Turbo. Low/reasonable budget is my top priority.
Any others worth considering?

the life of a muffler can be extenede by doign a few things. first paint it every so often. i piantmy whoel system at every oil change with a high temp black paint. dont park on dirt if you can. the miosture formt he groudn ccan easily get soakee intot he system as it woudl st over night. aviod short term trips, make them a lil longer or just before you park it blow it out by gettign on it a lil, get the flow through the system. and last but not least , lookign for the ultimate system go full stianless steel, with no maitence they can last a good 7 years ro so, you maintane it it cna last who nows. but if you go stainless steel and it welded together with a mig welder, make sure those welds are painted, most migs are steel wire, not stianless unless you have it tig welded thn they use stianless. just my view of it all

I would go with a straight thru design muffler, which the super turbos are not. I have super turbos on my 5.0, and like them... nice V8 growl, but not annoyingly loud in the least, but I would never use one on a turbo car.

It's not very likely that I'll be spending the money for stainless. My car's going to have 250k on it by the end of the summer so I'm not really looking for a long term solution.
Appearently I got a super deal when I got my Dynomax because I found it on line for $60, plus a $20 off coupon from Dyno's website. Now I think the best price I've found is ~$80.

I never put any on my TC. the shop recommended what he called resonator tips. At the time I never heard of them. The looked like just a sort of diffuser to me. Wasn't much louder than the worn out muffler I had taken off.
