OK...here's another twist to the haunted car saga.I swear this car is gonna kill me yet.
I was trying to trace down what I thought might be a possible bad ground in the system(Hell,I've tried nearly everything else)and NOW it was and IS still happening whenever you slam the doors. Anyway,I had the passenger door open, looking at wire connections and stuff, while the system was on. The system was cutting in and out as usual these days, when I happened to lean on the antenna ring on the top of the fender. It was loose and moved and guess what? The damn system cut off!! So,I held the ring in one spot and the system quit cutting in and out. I know that every time I use the power switch on the dash,it blows the fuse for the radio. Now I guess the question is,is it the switch that's bad,or the power antenna? Hell..I think I am just gonna replace BOTH of the damn things.

Another thing...I did change that ignition switch, and it wasn't the problem. Oh well, like Pete said..they're cheap.

Well mine used to do it all the time, doesnt really do it anymore, i have had alot of probs with wiring in association with alternator, but with the stereo and diming lights it just seems to me as a power issue, when the deck doesnt have enough power it shuts off, and will turn back on automatically, i replaced my battrey and it fixed my problem, with mine right before it would turn off it would start to dim, mainly when its trying to push alot, aftermarket decks especially pioneer's with 50x4watts i would think need more power, so my batt used to suck and that fixed the problem,

not as cheap but worth a shot i guess, also mine batt would go completly dead if i wouldnt drive the car for like 2 days, i think the cold help too.

I would think if you wiggle the antenna and the radio stops or starts cutting, it would be a bad wire or loose conncetion.

One other thing,I was told that the system was grounded through the antenna, and when I pulled the antenna lead out of the stereo,it cut all power to the radio and cleared the memory presets too. That blew my mind,as I have never had that happen before. So,if there IS a bad ground in the system, and a lot of power is sent thru it,would that not cause it to cut in and out? Or am I just grasping here?

If you are asking, does it lose the memory and clock settings and all when it is cutting off and on...no it does not. However, like I said, when you wiggle the antenna and move it around a lil bit,the radio WILL cut off. But when it comes back on,it still has the memory and correct clock times
