Has anyone successfully run a newer mustang rear

Well my 88 is making some sounds out the rear end. In the long run I was wanting to do a 5 lug swap anyways so why not do it now. I know plenty of mustang guys with good rearends I can get for a decent price. Iv been doing reading on the coolcat site and others and said the mounting locations are the same. My question has anyone on here actually done a 94+ mustang rear end swap? I know I prolly wont be able to bolt my Quad shocks up (they might be bad anyways). Just wanna hear first hand from someone that has done it. Flaring and rerunning brake lines are no big for me as well.

I'm doing a 5 lug swap using spindles and axle from a 95 Mustang. I have everything ready to do but my wheels have been on back order since November. I daily drive the car so I didn't want it on jack stands waiting on wheels. I just got word they are to ship next week so I'm hoping it will happen soon.
I was going to try to swap in the ABS from the Mustang too because they're 100% stand alone and only need power and signals from the sensors. Then I found out you can't buy the sensors anymore so I need to find either good used ones or figure out if 99 and up sensors will work.

Yeah I seen that ranger axel method and its easier for me to just swap Mark 7 front rotors and put in a new rear end.

Not sure what you mean about a Ranger axle. I'm swapping in the complete 8.8 out of a 95 Mustang.

The biggest reason I went with the Mustang spindles in the front is because now I can basically use any brake system and any wheel that would work on a Mustang and the aftermarket support is huge.

Oh i was meaning for those who use axel shafts instead of swapping the whole rear. Yeah my cars been sitting a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time and for the price to get the rims looking decent its cheaper to just do a 5lug swap and buy some more wheels and tires. Mustang rear in the back and Mark 7 rotors up front for me.

I forgot about this thread but if anyone is curious the 95 Mustang axle I used bolted right in place. I had to get the lower shock mounts from 23parts.com to run the SN95 shocks but that was easy enough. I used the Mustang rear brakes and hoses and then bent new hard lines. I used the Turbocoupe center hose from the body to the axle. This will only work if you bend new hard lines, the factory Turbocoupe lines won't match up to the Mustang calipers and the Mustang hard lines won't match up to the Turbocoupe center hose.

In order to use the quadshocks I'm going to have to modify the body side mount to bring it forward about an inch but that won't be a big deal. I drove the car about 100 miles before the old lady incident but I had no issues during that time.

thanks for the update, how did the parking brake cable mount up for you? Any issues? This sounds like the easiest way to get a 5 lug rear swap done.

The SN95 rear caliper is basically the same as the Turbocoupe other than piston diameter and they both have the same style parking brake cable. I unhooked the factory cables and hooked them right back up to the SN95 caliper, no issues at all.
I will suggest that you lubricate the parking brake cables while you have them unhooked. I really don't care for the sharp angle they have coming into the caliper.
