Mine is still original all the way around except for the updated Alpine and speakers.

167xxx on it and it's in Minnesota. No rust at all. But then again I don't drive it at all in the winter.
Publicity, fame and accolades can make a theory popular. They can't make it true.

Great article, Jeff. I’m glad they asked someone knowledgeable about TCs and not just some staff automotive writer. Those have not always been kind to our cars over the years.

Sorry to break the news to everyone, but I’m pretty sure that’s not Jeff’s car. Several days ago I received a notification I had set up at Hemming’s Motor News for a 1987 Turbo Coupe—Vanguard Motor Sales in Michigan is offering the car pictured in the article for $29,900: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dea...id=1&pid=2 .

It’s too bad Jeff’s TC isn’t pictured in the story. I’d love to see more on the methanol injection mods and 24 psi...and 325 hp!

1987 Turbo Coupe w/T5OD, 8.8 axle, grey smoke; most options. Got it in 1991 with 41K miles: 3 turbos, 2 heater cores, 1 T5OD full rebuild, 5 clutches, 1 head gasket, 2 Teves II ABS units, etc. later....

Wow that is really cool! The price seems a little steep, there have been some pretty nice ones for sale for a lot less. When I think of how much I probably have into mine, and it's not even a hundredth  as nice, maybe it is worth it.

I told the author of the article that I am running 24 psi boost with meth injection and he said "it must be putting out around 325 Hp then". My response was "I really have no clue how much Hp it is putting out, but it is fast enough for me". The author must have just used his blind Hp estimate in the article.

There are a few other minor errors in the article, such as the author stating the TC doesnt have a knock sensor, which, of course, they do, and a few other minor mistakes / omissions.

I never bothered to add up the cash I have spent on my cars over the years...... it would be too depressing a number to contemplate.
