I went over to a fellow Nato member's place, Rick, to see if I could get his car started. No power to the car, no lights etc. Traced it back to the fusible link, repaired it and it started. Took Rick for a ride in my car. Just got on the highway and "BOOM". I wasn't pushing it at all. Managed to pull over and the thing is smoking. Oil is spilling out the bottom end, but from where? Turns out I've got a chunk of the block missing. Well there was no repairng that on the side of the road. Called a tow truck and got the thing home. I must have thrown a rod out. Oh, well. I've got another short block that I will just transfer everything on. At least Rick's car got started.

Really sorry to hear that. I know it's not true but sometimes it seems like no good deed goes unpunished [Image: frown.gif]

Are those the stock rods and how many miles on them? I see you got a lot of the "right" parts in the bottom end, so I'd guess it was a rod also.

NATO Member. it's not a vice, it's an obsession
You only need two tools in life; WD-40 and Duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use Duct Tape.

Man, I feel so bad that it happened while he was taking me for a ride too. It was pretty nuts, when the tow truck lifted the car a chunk of the block fell off onto the road. Poor thing.

I can't thank you enough for coming out though, I'm so happy you could get my car running.

Yep, they were stock rods that were resized. Not sure how many miles were on them though. Probably too many. Oh, well. Back to the drawing board.

With the mods you have, might want to consider some Crowler sportsmans.

Rick, don't worry about it. It was bound to happen sooner or later. It merely added some excitement to your day. I am dissapointed but no one got hurt and engines can be rebuilt. I have my own hoist and tools so all the work will be done here. I should have her together in about a week or two, weather permitting.
