So one of my friends swung over to pickup a headlamp I pulled for her car while I was looking for parts for my tbird in the scrap yard. She goes "I didn't know you had two cars, why do you have two cars". We were next to my tbird and I go cause this car is super rare and old and sometimes isn't the most reliable (I didn't wanna try to explain the whole summer/winter car thing). So she goes "oh, yea you don't see many of these...". And she was trying to figure out what it was. She looked at the thundbird badges and you could tell she was trying to figure out what kind of car it was but I'm pretty sure she never had seen a tbird before in her life. Let alone a turbocoupe. So she gives up and goes "ugh, I'm not a car person". So I politely reminded her again that it's very rare (so she wouldn't feel so bad). I had to tell her that it was a thunderbird with a mustang engine (yes, I know the SVO has a slightly different engine). Sigh. My head hurts now.

I know what you mean. While there are rare exception, most women get that "1000 yd." stair when I start talking about my TC. For that matter, they get the same look when I talk about any car stuff, vintage WWII aircraft, collage football, science, current geopolitical issues, or just about anything else I'm really interested in. Probably the same look I get when they start talking about cloths, shoe, and girly stuff like that.

That describes my wife of 9 years perfectly! On top of that, she has never even sat in the car... not once. Plus the other day I was telling her about how I was polishing my intercooler pipes and she just looks at me like I'm an idiot. She says, "why would anyone care what their engine looks like?". My response: "This is why I don't ever ask you to come to a car show with me."

Oh man, that would be tough saying it has a "mustang engine". I can't stand to be so vague when it comes to some things(especially talking about cars...I have to be specific or I feel like an idiot), so I feel your pain. I guess that wouldn't be as likely to get a "deer in the headlights" look as if you said "it has a 190HP turbocharged 4cylinder and was Motor Trends car of the year in 1987". Hmm, can't say I ever had any women talk smack about my TC. My ex liked it(looks wise), Wendys drivethru girl liked it, and I caught a stoplight girl checking the wheels out. Other than that, it gets no love from the fems.

Hell girls and women understanding it are the least of my worrys. I got friends that dont even understand it, especially the 4 cyl part. I keep getting told to drop a V8 in.

I have to give my wife credit, I was going to trade my TC for a 67 Pontiac Tempest, she talked me out of it because she said " I never told you but I like the T-Bird". :-0
