My car died the other day(the throttle had been fluttering for a few months). I figured it might be the BPV, so I took it out - sure enough, it's blown! I thought I'd take the valve apart to see what happened...Not only is it blown, a chunk of rubber the size of a dime is missing! And guess where it went - into the turbo, [Image: mad.gif] no doubt! I'll be into it tonight to see(I just took the valve apart today).
I'm trying to source an aluminum high quality BPV (piston actuated, instead a diaphragm). I'll keep ya posted, if anyone else is interested - hopefully just a tad over $100
I'll get some pics of the blown valve tonight also. I was running 18 psi - I guess more than the Bosch could handle. Maybe I just got a bad one; but I'm not going to run the bosch again!

That's part of the reason I've always suggested spending the extra money on (at the very least) bosch's high-pressure unit. Mine held up to a year's worth of 22psi, and I just recently swapped over to a nice chrome forge bpv from statmosphere.com ($140). Now that I'm selling the TC, I swapped the bosch unit back on and am still very pleased with it's performance.

The bailey BOVs are around $130 or so from Roadster Performance. The BPVs are closer to $150.

I'm planning on getting a Bailey's BOV at some point. Heard they're good quality units.

Bailey's have a dubious history. You may want to pass on those. Keep in mind the Bosch valves will wear out in about six months with any boost over 1 bar (14.7 psi). If you are serious about aluminium valves, try any Audi or VW tuner. They sell valves that directly replace the stock Bosch units. Keep in mind that aluminium valves need to be disassembled and lubricated periodically.
I recommend: www.awe-tuning.com (if you are set on getting Baileys) or www.avalonmotorsports.com for Forge BPVs.

Because I'm crazy and want to make a decision that I'll probably regret for the rest of my life.....Actually, my parents have been pestering me to a) establish some credit by taking out a small automotive loan and b) buy a more reliable car (more reliable than the tc?! pleaaaaaaaase) for the chicago winters i'll be soon facing.
I'm still in the developmental stages in regards to choosing which new car / truck I'd like to buy and finding a buyer for the TC, so there is still some time for me to fall in love with the TC again. However, the currect lack of a/c will defintiely be a deterent as the summer heat rolls in. I'll keep you updated, Glenn.

Yeah, keep me posted. Make sure you race it again before you sell it. Run that 13 and fall in love all over again. I would love to have that eec tuner. [Image: wink.gif]
