hey, new to the community and might I say this is a great site. I have a small prob with a 87 tc I just bought. When the car is cold it rakes 2nd and 3rd but once it warms up it is fine unless your trying to get in some spirited driving. The clutch and fork has relatively low miles on it. Could it need service from being hydro asist? Not really sure. Any ideas would be helpful, thank's, Tony

Have you checked the slave rod travel? If it is not completely disengaging the clutch that may be a possible cause.

no I haven't checked that. How do I? That is what seems to be going on. Everything is super smooth and really not that old.

Minimum (slave cylinder to fork) rod travel with clutch to the floor is 0.53". If travel is less there is a problem in the clutch system. check fluid level in the little white reservoir on the fire wall (about 1/2 full) Then check the slave for leaks by carefully peeling down the rubber boot on the rod end. A little fluid moisture in the area is OK. Dripping fluid is not OK, replace the slave and bleed the system. You may have to check the master cylinder as well.

Have you checked the fluid level in the trans? Sometimes changing the oil will solve some shifting issues. Some people have even used friction modifier in the trans.

no, I haven't done much yet. I just picked up the car sunday. I will take all the advice here and run with it. I know that some modifier could help and am gonna try that. It acts like the clutch is slow to disengage. I did check the clutch fluid and it was full.
