Gas Tank Woes

I finally started on restoring my bird to the daily driver I want. I parked it in the back yard in late 2010 when it started running slower & slower. Each week I would start it for about 20 minutes to keep it going. About a year later, it quit during one of these times, and it has just sat since. Saturday, I pulled the gas tank to find a nasty surprise. The fuel pump is not only dead, but the rubber surround is nearly totally gone. The short piece of gas hose has lost most of the outside rubber, and wasn't even connected to the pump. In addition, the rubber gasket that seals the filler pipe to the tank is eaten up. The gasket on the vapor connector was eaten up. What was left of these gaskets was like sticky tar. In addition, the fuel level float unit won't give any good readouts on my ohmmeter. A neighbor said that old gas was the reason for all that. Don't know what else it could be. I didn't figure out how to post a picture from my computer files. A little help on that please.

Thanks for the reply. My poor hearing doesn't help with that video, but following the arrow I think did it. Hopefully, the pic will show up. I used the file manager to add the pic, but I don't know if I need to do something else to get it to show. YAH, it works.

The fuel line from the pump to the flange has to be submersible fuel line. You can get it at NAPA for several bucks a foot. Hard to tell from the pic if that is submersible line or not. "regular" fuel line will not work!

What you are seeing is a walbro pump & complete kit, which included the fuel line. I was pretty sure the pump was dead before I pulled it, so I had already gotten a new pump & kit to replace it. I'm just amazed at how eaten up all the rubber stuff is. I'm going to soap & pressure wash the inside of the tank & dry it before installing the new stuff. I'm hoping someone sees my ad in the parts wanted for a fuel level sender unit. Thanks for the comments on here guys.
