Hello I'm wondering if anyone would know why my TC would smell like straight gas after shut off and sometimes while it's running. I don't find any puddle under the car or anything

Where does the smell appear to be coming from? Engine? back end? under the car? It doesnt take much of a leak to create a significant gas smell.

the 30 year old gas tank can be leaking. They usually develop leaks due to rust on the top where you cant see it or at the pinch weld. Metal fuel lines can develop pinhole leaks, and the 30 year old O rings where the fuel lines connect to the tank and to the Nylon flex lines going to the fuel rail can leak. The pulse damper is also a known leak source on these cars. Not common, but the injectors are known to leak where the plastic top part joins with the metal bottom part.

I am assuming the engine runs normally?

its hard to tell where the gas smell is coming from because it is really strong. the car actually doesn't run the way it should. I believe that the tps needs to be replaced. would this cause gas smell

TPS issues will not have anything to do with a strong gas smell. How do you know you have a TPS issue?

Is the CEL on? If so,what codes are you getting? HAve you pulled the vac line off the FPR to see if there is any gas in the line or if the line smells like gas?

You really need to try to isolate roughly where the smell is coming from for us to help you.

Is the smell worse with a full tank of gas? Worse with the engine running? Does it go away or mostly away when the car has sat for a few days?

I also had a strong fuel smell that was both inside the car and the trunk compartment, very strong after refueling (fill up). After some investigating I determined that it was in part the hose designed to channel any overflow/spillage from the filler door chamber to outside of the car. It had some dryrot, so it was allowing the excess/spilled fuel to collect in the right fender well by the trunk. Fixed the hose; also determined that the connector attaching the hose to the chamber was cracked and broken. Some JB Weld and that was fixed too, and so was the smell.

Just saying...check everything.

I believe I found my problem. I bought some of that uv dye and the flashlight. Found that I have a leaking fuel injector so now I'm gonna order some new ones. Any recommendations on where to get them from? Lowest price good quality.

Is it the actual injector that leaks or maybe an O ring? O rings are relatively easy to replace and inexpensive at most parts stores.

It's could possibly be just the o rings. I was thinking of its apart I might as well change the injectors
