Anyone elses fuel gauge fluctuate alot? Like goin up a hill itll drop alot or if coming down a hill itll read more then wats in it.

Yes. I've also had them stick a lot.

In most of the cars I've had you can get about 100 to even 200 miles on a tank before the needle hits the full mark, and then the thing plummets. Typically for most cars of older vintage, to my understanding.

that sucks it drives me insane LOL maybe its fuel cell time then i can run a newer style rope gauge or sumthing

They were designed that way..... You just put big $$ in you tank. Drive 100+ miles and gauge still reads full. You think "gee, what a great car..... I am getting great gas mileage". then, after the memory of the $$ you threw down the tank fades, the gauge starts to drop like a rock. Im not joking.... I have read this in several places from very reliable sources.

Isnt there someone in florida that rebuilds the sending units? Like the potentiometer connected to the float arm?
