Garrett Turbo Rebuild Kit

I was thinking of having my Garrett Turbo Rebuilt by a shop (not that I would know how to find one yet) but I just saw the rebuild video on the usefull tools section and I doesn,t look that hard. My question is this. Where can I get one of these rebuild kits and could an actuator rod be purchased from the same place? I recently removed the turbo from my '86 engine and I'm planing my next steps. Thanks for any info.
1987 Turbo Coupe,Black with red cloth, 5spd, 70,000 miles. In the process of being dissasembled, detailed and reassembled using the best of the parts that I have from 6 past T-birds. 17" TSW Chrome rims with Wanli rubber, Sony disc player with Type "R" Alpine subs, K&N cone, Centerforce Clutch, MSD Ignition, Sequential tailights, B&M Short Shifter. Much more work to be done but lovin' every minute of it. Updates to come...

Thanks fellas, I wasn't sure what, if anything, was availlable to me. Now I feel confident that my car will be reemerging in the spring with a fresh Garrett. The one I got off the '86 engine is quite rusty and most external plumbing needs to be replaced. The engine only had 100,000 miles on it but it sat for many years. My '87 is not even put away yet and I can't wait to get it back out. It will be an eventfull winter. Thanks again.

After reading through the replies from this post, I go to the performance mods section and I find a new T3/T4 Hybrid on Ebay for under 220.00 bucks and it's even chromed. I see that the wastegate actuator is not included but if rebuilding my Garrett is at least 325.00 what, it anything, would be the advantage. Sorry if I'm missing something very obvious here. Please advise.

According to the thread, (first one on Performance Upgrades and Mods section right now) this is the exact turbo he uses and he seems to be very happy with it. How would my turbo be different? They are both Garrett.

There are people that have or are running Ebay discount turbos. Some are very happy with them and I am anxiously awaiting the first 100K mi in service report. Big Grin Others are less than thrilled with the quality of their purchases.

My suggestion would be spend some quality time seeing what others experience have been.

I'm sure there are lots of other turbo forums that have more info.

Bare in mind that the $325 rebuild price probably doesn't include chrome. Makes you wonder how they can chrome a $220 new turbo?

Those discount turbos are generally knock offs of brand name merchandise, made off shore.

The sting of poor quality lives long after the the thrill of low price is gone.
