I was out enjoying my TC today, has anyone else noticed how smooth they run at 80mph?, anyway I started to notice a sound when the boost reaches 8-10psi, sounds like a fluttering rattle, like maybe the fan is coming loose or something similar. I really don't know a damn thing about a turbo, I do know its the stock turbo, is this something I can take apart and look at or does it need real help?

Take the zip hose off the compressor inlet pipe and then take the inlet pipe off. Look at the compressor blades, at the ends, for any chips or broken blades or blades tha are badly erroded. Try to move the shaft back and forth and from side to side. Much movement in either direction is bad. Do the blades contact the housing while you are tying to move the shaft. If so it is time for a rebuild or an upgrade.

I noticed that when my timing is off, it makes a rattling noise when I get on it...I'd check that first [Image: wink.gif]

I had similar noise that also happened in the middle boost range. The noise seemed like it came from the right side area of the engine compartment. The noise stopped immediatly after I converted to a Gillis valve and de-activated the BCS.

That should be:
