hi. i noticed in my 87 that when i turn the key to on the fule pump dosent prime. the car will hesitate to start but it dose run fine. my question is could something like the ignition switch be blamed for that. cuz i can take the key out in any postion after lock and start it without the key?

My key comes out in other positions also. That isn't really the switch, that is the lock cylinder. Not saying it isn't the switch , but being able to take the key out isn't the determining factor. They are seperate and distinct. I would suggest you see Jeff's article on "Fuel Pump Diagnostics" in the Technical Articles.
