I'm reasonably sure that it is the same as the 86, 87, and 88. I haven't done any work in that direction, but if you do a search you should find lots of info.

what I don't know is if you have a single pump set up with the pump in the tank or a dual system with a low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump between the tank and the fuel rail. If you trace your fuel lines from tank to fuel rail, you can determine this

we have an 84 tc,2 fuel pumps, the one in tanks feed hose rotted out, finally dropped tank to find prob,tank was filthy,swaped in tank from 87 cougar(a bit larger but fit with cougar straps),spliced the wires for sending unit & in tank pump they were separate in the cougar tank,all together in the 84 unit,called my local dealer he said new unit not available thru ford,

I had to replace the entire fuel system in my 84'. The tank, the rail pump and the in-tank pump with sending unit. The in-tank pump/sending unit is available at local auto parts stores, however, they ain't cheap! It cost me $400.00 for everything and I get my parts for almost cost! I was told if you had both pumps in good working order, you did not need to upgrade to a 255. Is this true?
