I have a 1988 turbo coupe was an automatic now 5 speed . I have 12 volts at the inerta switch and only 4 volts at plug in left side of trunk. wtf? New tpe and iac.

20 or so years ago I had the inertia switch fail. I believe it failed due to too much current flowing thru the inertia switch due to the 255 lph fuel pump pulling more current than the inertia switch was designed to handle.

To avoid another failure I put a 30 amp relay in the circuit so the 30 amp relay carries the full current load from the fuel pump. Inertia switch only carries an amp or less.

Since then no inertia switch issues for 20+ years.
