AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! damn moon roof wont slide open; then the drivers side power door lock wont work; the anti-lock brake light is on; hood rust is just getting worse; now the car wont even start! i went to visit my parents to pick up a few items. when i was ready to leave (about 2 hours later) the car would not start. the engine would turn over, but not fire. after thinking about it, since i did not touch anything under the hood, i noticed the fuel pump was not running with the key on. a quick check of the valve on the fuel rail revealed i had zero pressure. questions: are there any locations that i can check for current to see if the fuel pump is getting juice i.e. a fuel pump relay or fuse (the inertia switch was not tripped)? is a new walbro pump a direct fit and an easy install? any thoughts or tips wanted. thanks

See the article "Retrieving EEC diagnostics codes in the Tech Articles.. In it is a diagram that shows which connection to ground to get the pump to run. You might have an ignition switch problem rather than a fuel pump problem

Quick test for the pump itself: Get a wire long enough to go from the pos batt terminal to the trunk. Locate the inertia switch (panel behind the tail lights on 87-88), and remove the electrical connector. Jumper each terminal of the connector to the 12V wire from the batt. one of the 2 terminals should make the pump run. Putting 12V on the "wrong" terminal wont hurt anything. If the pump runs with one terminal jumpered to 12V, the pump is good, if it doesnt run with the 12V at either terminal, the pump is likely bad, or possible the wiring between the inertia switch and pump is bad, but that is less likely.
