Fuel Leak

I have a fuel leak that is coming out under the passenger wheel well. I can reach up there and feel what seems to be a collapsed hose, is this possible? If so Is it just a matter of changing it, and if not, what else could it be.

I have been working pretty steady on this and can figure most things out, however whe I was installing the EGR tube this AM, I pulled a muscle in my side, (I hope thats all anyway, heard a pop and felt searing pain) It is a bit painful to get down on the creeper, so I was hoping someone had an answer for me.

Thanks

Kevin

I take it you mean the rear pass wheel well. It could be the filler hose or the gasket. I had the gasket where the filler hose goes into the tank start leaking last year. I got the part from Ford. If I remember right the gasket only cost like $4.00. I almost fell over when they told me the price.

Glad to hear to you got the EGR tube on. Sorry about the injury. Sometimes the busted up knuckles don't seem that bad after all.

It is the front Pass wheel well. When I reach up I can feel the hoses just under the plastic. I wish I could descrobe it a little better, but without getting under there I'm just kind of guessing.

Have to work this evening at the P.T. job (Liquor store, so not that bad), and the rain is starting, so I guess I'll try to tackle it tommorrow. This and the manual fan switch and I'm back on the road. Fan switch, I just need to run the line trough the fire wall and mount the switch.

The fuel lines dont route thru the pass side, they route thru the driver side. There are, however, 2 (if I remember correctly... there is at least one for sure to hold vac for the HVAC) vac storage can(s) up under the plastic inner fender liner. If one of those vac lines is split / disconnected and leaking fuel, that means you have fuel in the vac lines. Only way to get fuel in the vac lines is thru a blown FPR diaphram. Does the car run rich / idle poorly? Are you sure it isnt a brake fluid leak?

Glenn... I replaced the filler neck gasket a few years back when I put in the 255 fuel pump (old one was hard as a rock), and I too almost shit a brick when I only paid about $4 for it. I seem to remember it has a D2xx (1972) part #, so it must be the same one used on nearly all Ford cars for decades.

Yeah I think the hard fuel lines do route by the Frt. Pass wheel then across to the hoses for the fuel rail.

I'm pretty damn sure its a fuel line, its definately gas comming out, Not brake fluid. I guess I gotta get under it in the AM. I do know that gas is pouring out, but only when its running. If the fuel was in the vac lines wouldn't it be further than right there? I just put a different turbo on, and ther is no gas in the vac lines around it.

There is more than one hose up there though. As far as running rich, or idle problems, I don't know. Still haven't been able to test drive it except through the neighborhood. Once I get this leak figured out, I plan to hit the Highway and check everything out.

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted.
