Fuel Filter for 83 -86 TC/Cougars

Where is the fuel filter on these cars and whats involved in changing them?

88 TC X 2, 86 SVO, Main TC with K&N, 3"DP to 2.5"duals through Dynamax, Ric valve at 17+ and disconnected KS.
Elite Bodega 16" chrome wheels. Autometer pod w/ A/F and Vac/boost gauges.140 mph Motorsports Speedo New engine: Total Seal rings and TRW pistons, ported and polished head w/ cc'd chambers,1.59"exhausts, SS valves, gutted upper, knife edged lower, A-230 cam, Race Engineering Adj Cam Sprocket, Crowlers, ARP head studs, and rod bolts. Walbro 255 HP pump and Kirban adj FPR, T-3. Centerforce II, KB subs and jack rails.

Its the same filter thats on your car.So changing it consists of the same.
Now on my '83 & '84 there is two fuel pumps.
One is in the tank like yours,but much smaller.It has a strainer on it,like yours.
Now the secondary pump is atached to the filter on the pass. side under the car,behind the door.
My '86 ,I think is set up the same as '87-'88 TC.It has just one pump in the tank w/strainer.And the filter is under the car behind the pass.door.

The filter should be under the drivers side about 3/4 of the way towards the back of the door. Thats where it was on my 85 Cougar XR7. It is inserted into a bracket and held in with a bolt. Be carful you dont break the fuel line clips. It is an easy job and will smooth out the engine if its old and corroded.
