Changing my front PRC's and mounts yesterday, and I noticed the rubber line that runs from the calliper to the brake line is cracked pretty bad on both sides. The interior of the hose is OK, as there are no leaks, however I would like to replace both sides in the near future, as I am going to be bleeding my brakes, figured it would be a good time as any to change those lines.
I searched the old posts and didn't find any information on these hoses. Is there a part number someone can give me? When I call around, what exacly am I looking for. The only bit of info I found was that the hoses ran about 40 bucks apiece, steep, imho, but within reason for safety.
Also, once I do have the new hoses, does anyone have any tips on changing them? I do have ALL the Helm manuals, but you know how they are, and anyone with real world experience can help out more than the book.
Thanks a bunch!

The only real tip I can give you on replacing the hoses is to make sure you don't twist them, this includes attaching them at both ends. Try to figure out approximately where the caliper will be once the hose is tightened and the caliper is bolted to the spindle, then twist the opposite direction before starting to thread on the hose. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense! In other words, don't have the straight hose and thread it a few turns into the caliper or else the hose will have a twist to it.

Gregg, I think the front lines are still available. I don't have stock PNs. You might want to see this post about braided lines:

Gregg,
The Raybestos part numbers are:
Left front: BH38383
Right front: BH38384
The Wagner part numbers are:
Left front: F113936
Right front: F113937
One of these two brands should be available at your local NAPA type parts store.
Hope this helps

No problem, glad to be of assistance. [Image: smile.gif]
I will say this, the current Raybestos book has some serious problems with their TurboCoupe description. I had to look up the application in my Wagner book and then go to the manufacture part number cross-over to verify which Raybestos part number was correct.
Here is what the Raybestos books shows under their brake hose column:
THUNDERBIRD 1988-87
2.3L Turbo,Rear Drum Brakes..........(part#)
Rear Disc Brakes.....................(part#)
Except 2.3L,Turbo,Rear Drum Brakes...(part#)
And it gets better, under the 1990-91 Thunderbird listing is list a set of hoses for a 2.3L Turbo w/drum brakes. [Image: rolleyes.gif]

Put braided stainless on that baby, you will not regret it, and they should last forever. As to installing them, before I completely rebuilt my TC brakes, I had NEVER (!) done any brakes before, ever. I was careful, took my time, and had only one problem: the front left fitting for the line is a different size than the rest, and the performance shop made them all the same; he fixed it for free, though. It "cost" me a day is all. I can get them made within a day or two of getting money, and can ship immediately after that.
If there's enough interest shown, I'll try to set up a group deal. I don't know how much discount I can get, the lines are already pretty inexpensive at about $100 for all four, including new copper compression washers for each banjo fitting.
Keep an eye on the other thread Pete listed; I'll post my findings there either Saturday or Sunday.

Sounds great to me....i had heard that the stock lines were going to cost me like 40 a piece so 100 for all 4 isn't a bad price at all.
email me at [email protected] and let me know how we can set something up.
