Any body got a source for the long metal brake line that goes from under the master cylinder to the passenger side front brake.
Is this a dealer only item?

Pete... cant you just get a length of line at the parts store and put it in? Does the line have weird fittings on it or something? DO you have a double flare tool to fab up a custom line?

Guys, I can try it. This line is probable 6-7 feet long or more (straightend out) I have a cheap hand bender and no experience. I got some kind of flairing tool that would not make a dent in an oil supply line I was trying to adapt at the time. What do I need in terms of tools and fittings. I don't think the fittings are anything special, I just don't know jack about it Besides I got a feeling I'll have more than one line to do. I think the rear brake line runs along the same path and is probably just as rusty.

Pete... Most parts stores have various lengths of brake line with the ends pre flared and the nuts on them. Might not be able to find a 7 foot long piece, but you can always use 2 shorter pieces and join them with a union -- not the absolute best way to do it, but it will work -- I have done that on some old cars, and it worked for years. The lines bend pretty easy if you bend them with a cheap tubing bender, or around a soup can, etc. to get a larger radius bend. If the prefab lines are a bit too long, just put a few extra bends in here and there to take up the extra length.

If you want to custom make lines, you need a half way decent flaring tool, and a set of the double flare insert things. Doing the double flare isnt too hard, but practice a few times on a junk piece of line to get the hang of it. I do double flares so infrequently, I always have to practice a few times to remember how.

I seem to remember seeing ads in the back of many of the car mags for a place that custom makes brake and fuel lines bent up exactly line the OEM ones. They brag they make like 20,000 different lines, so they might have the patterns for a TC. Dont remember the name of the company, though.

Jeff, I'm just going to make my own. I got a cheap hand bender and I do have a double flaring kit although I haven't used it. I'll be sure to get some practice line for flares. I'm about out the door right now. Thanks to all for the advice.

Where I work you can buy a 25 foot piece ( in a loose roll)for around $15.00. you will still need the fittings of course. But that should give you enough to make what you need.
