What intercooler did you get? I would definitely get a bypass valve. I think even a stock car should have one.

My last turbo broke during a 2nd-3rd gear shift after full throttle, so i've been planning on getting a bov for just the stock intercooler until i hook up my volvo front mount. Has anybody else tried this? I'm still not too clear on exactly how the bov would hook up to the intercooler itself, so can anybody fill me in?

gillis valve set at 18lbs, k&n cone on VAM, removed A/C belt, unbolted exhaust at track,

NEW UPDATE: car is fixed and better than ever. New mods include mildly ported TB and exhaust manifold, removed a/c system (free mod, but still), kirban adjustable fpr (at whatever the stock setting is now, but changing once i get a fuel pressure guage), and a spare ihi turbo i had laying around. 14 second 1/4 mile times, here i come

I think any T-3 or better turboed car ought to have a bypass valve. no I don't have one yet but it's high on the list because of the back pressure when the TB closes. From what I have heard it seems more important with the additional plubing associated with a front mount. I would say you should incorporate one.

I'm thinking of tapping into the end of the intercooler, seeing as there isn't a lot of room between TB and IC.
That should still release the pressure there.

I believe that between the TB and (Stock) IC is a preferable location and when I ever get around to it...I am going to try to locate it on that side of the IC. This way you are returning air that has already been cooled back in front of the turbo intake.

With a Front Mounted IC there would be LOTS of room to place between the TB and IC (on the Pipe between the two...).
