answed half of my question.
BPV (ByPass Valve) vs BOV (Blow Off Valve) - What's the difference - - by Jeff Korn

BPV (ByPass Valve) - vents boost (high pressure air) back to the intake system before the turbo and after the air meter when you close the throttle under boost.

BOV (Blow Off Valve) - vents boost to the atmosphere when the throttle is closed.

Is ither one of them a must?

Not really a "must", butit is a real good idea, especially with a FMIC set up that has a larger volume of high pressure air in it than the stock system has, and if you run higher than stock boost levels.

I suggest a BPV to keep all the metered air in the system. A BOV vents metered air out, and motor will briefly go rich on a shift.

Everyone has their own opinion on the sound.... some like the noise of a BOV, but personally, I think it sounds "ricey".

yea, the BOV does sound ricey to me also. I'm putting a BPV on my 85 TC i'm building for the dragstrip. I also have dual BPY's from two ford Turbo probes on my twin turboed 93 mustang GT (306 with dual T3's .60/.63 a/r's and a custom front mount intercooler. 16# of boost threw it and with the BPV's it sounds stealthy lol with the exception of the turbo spooling lol.)
