Front end rebuild prices.....

So originally I was going to buy the PST front end kit for 87-88 Thunderbird TC's to rebuild my 88. I thought their price was a bit high especially for what was in the kit, $252 for their improved performance poly graphite kit. I went over to rock auto and priced out the individual components to include Energy Suspension control arm, sway bar, sway bar endlink, and Moog ball joints and tie rod ends for only $188, and shipping was only $9. So for $50-75 cheaper I got Energy Suspension component s and Moog items. Thought I would pass along the info

Parts List
Ball Joints - Moog K8259
Lower Control Arm Bushings - Energy Suspension 43123G
Sway Bar Bushing w/ Bracket - Energy Suspension 45162G

Nice list.

Are you planning to autocross or track days? Asking because of the bushing materials you chose.
Are you lowering the suspension too and are you planning for bumpsteer?

Yes I plan on lowering it an inch all around. I recently bought MM caster camber plates and plan on using BMR SP028 springs in the front. I wasn't planning on using a bumpsteer kit from what I've read here it is only needed for lowering beyond 1.5". As for the materials used, I used to run an 86 Mustang GT with Energy Suspension front bushings and it rode great and felt more solid, so I have no concerns with using it on the TC. For the rear, I have some MM adjustable lower control arms and have a pair of Moog CC821 LTD springs which should lower it an inch and also have a higher spring rate and load rating than available Mustang springs. I currently have 2004 Mustang GT convertible springs front and rear and the rears are way to soft, hence the higher load rating LTD springs. Once spring hits and I can start installing parts I will be taking pics to compare springs and ride heights.

Great list of parts! Im about to do the same on my bird and I was wondering what the difference in the red or black bushings from energy suspension are. I was thinking the black color was a stock replacement and the reds are the stiffer bushings??? Am I right here? anyways good luck!

They listed two sizes for the Thunderbird's, not sure if they considered the regular and the Turbo Coupes different, but I used the Energy Suspension 98121G's and they were a direct swap in my 88TC. That part number may be used on the Foxbody GT's as well, not sure though. My local Autozone even carried the ones I bought.
