Front E-brake cable

Maybe I'm just doing it all wrong, but it's not getting done. I got a new front e-brake cable and can't quit figure out how to get either one apart. I read the book and it said to press in those little clips where they pieces connect. I attempted and was having no luck. I don't think i could even press all of them in at once. So is there some trick to getting this done? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

TO remove the old one, stick a screwdriver between the cable and a prong, and bend the prong outward.... it will snap off. Repeat for the other prongs. With all of them broken off, cable will come out.

Thanks Jeff, the only problem i'm really coming upon now is getting the one under the dash, and also how to disconnect the new one without damaging it?

When I did mine, I found it easier to pull pedal assy, attach the new cable, and reinstall the assy. Three bolts hold it in, 10 mm or 7/16" if I remember correctly, and a big PITA to get to. Several long extensions and a U joint ot 2 make it a LITTLE easier.

To press all the prongs at once, I use a box-end wrench that just fits over the end of the cable and push it over the prongs...out comes the cable. [Image: smile.gif] Of course, this only works if you have the linkage disconnected.
