Front brake line question, 87/88

I'm upgrading the front brakes on my '86 to those of and '88. Spindles, calipers, rotors..... the front lines I purchased from NAPA. Based on my research, I thought I would need line adaptors to from the '86 hardlines to '88 flex lines. That was the case for the driver's side, but the passenger side has the same fitting size as the '86.
So the question, does the '88 really have different size fittings for the front brake lines.
Thanks

Sorry Robert, I don't have an answer for you. But, any info you discover, please post it. One of my upcoming mods is to adapt the '88 spindles/calipers/rotors to my '86. Thanks!

Yes, there are different size fittings on driver and pass sides. I discovered this a month or so ago when I put the Aerobird Motorsports SS braded flex lines on my 88. One side threaded up fine, and I needed to get an adaptor for the other side. Why???? I am guessing it is to "idiot proof" the assembly at the factory, so it is impossible to switch the lines from side to side.

Thanks Jeff. I was really surprised.

evin,
The adaptor for the driver side is
7/16-24-INF male to 3/8-24-INF female thread
Also identified as -4 male to -3 female or 1/4 male to 3/16 female

I was only able to find them in brass.
The 10 hole 15" wheels will just clear everything. Also I'm using 87-93 Mustang GT rotors, don't need the ABS slots of the TC.

Robert, thanks for the info. I did the swap on my Mustang using TC spindles and '93 Mustang GT rotors. However, I used '86 Lincoln Mark VII 73mm calipers and I didn't have the fitting issue. This time I don't want to swap out the master so I'll just use the TC calipers. Good info to know, thanks!

It occured to me that I should mention another point in coverting to '87/'88 front brakes. The smaller '86 spare doughnut allegedly will not clear the larger rotors/calipers. I should have checked this before I took it off the stands. I have the '87/'88 spare so I just need to take the time and try both spares.

The 86 spare definately does not clear the front or rear brakes for an 87/88. The caliper brackets stick out too far and grind the snot out of them as well as the spindle "ears". The 83-86 spare doesn't have enough "backspacing".
