Have 88 TC with "Premium Sound System" with AM-FM Cassett Radio and Equalizer. Both Need "ON-OFF" Switch repaired - Volume "Spikes" on Radio and Equalizer will not remain engaged in the "ON" position when pushed.

Any help as to a reliable and dependable "Repair Shop" to bring my OEM units back to full working order ?

Aftermarket Sound systems are NOT an option - We intend to maintain OEM system. Location is NY State.Willing to ship units anywhere for proper repair.

Also any help on High Quality Aftermarket Replacement speakers - That fit within the Ford OEM Mounting & Existing Grill Locations with No Mods ?

These guys did a great job on mine to bring it back to life! Seems like it cost $135.00 to repair wow and flutter on tape deck and clean throughout. Took about 2 weeks for the entire turnaround time. Hope this helps?

FYI-

My TC is Twilight Blue as well - As of this morning 2/28/12 30,786 Original Miles - Would love to see what your 1,000 mile TC looks like.

Again thanks for the Radio repair information.I checked out the link and will be calling there later today.

Noticed in another of your other posts that you had replaced the moonroof seal.

Could you fill me in briefly as to what that project would entail.

Have a leak free, since new, moonroof but annoying "wind noise" from day one. Presently roof will only retract 1/2 way - Tilt Up vent function works well .Which is why seal replacement is another reason to do the project.

Any insight would be appreciated

Thanks

Hey EJ, had to find this with another search but the info was right here! I love this sight! Here is the link and instructions came with the new seal. Make sure to get the 3M glue as well I believe their sight has that as well. Caution, do not use too much of the glue as it tends to leak out from under the new seal and create another mess to clean, it is potent! Time to clean the old and put on the new, being anal, took me about 3 hours if I remember right. It was sure nice to quiet down the wind noise, you'll love it!

More info from the "TC FAQ" on the top of the site page EJ!:

Sunroof Leaks - Kevin Campbell http://www.sunroofdoctor.com has the weather stripping, about $60. Factory exact replacement. It is NOT hard to pull the window. 1. Put the window in the vent (rear high ) position. 2. On the inside.. front edge.. the black molding has three little screws .. remove them... the molding then can be slid to the rear (gently). 3. Now the 6 phillip screws that hold glass panel in are exposed. Three on each side. Remove those and then lift the glass out. 4. Pull the old weather stripping off... clean the mating surface. ( I used carb cleaner on a rag, a razor blade and elbow grease). 5. Test fit the new gasket (it is too long and will need to be trimmed). 6. Use weather-stripping cement. I used 3M brand. Follow cement directions. 7. Helps to have a second set of hands when putting on the gasket so as not to get the cement on anything you don't want it on. 8. Install new strip, pressing firmly all the way around to insure a good bond. 9. Let it setup for 30-40 minutes. Then reverse the procedure used to take the window out.. reinstalling the glass. 10. Put the window in the closed position and let it set for a day or so. The gasket needs to form against the body. Otherwise it is apt to bind when you try and retract the roof into the body. Pretty simple.. made a BIG difference in wind noise reduction. My previous old gasket leaked in a high pressure car wash. This one doesn't leak at all.

Wow !

That sounds infinitely easier than I had been expecting - Clearly a Sat project with my son that will both cure the "wind noise and give us an affordable and practical solution.

Thank you very, very much for the your time, courtesy and experience in helping us with this issue.

You are correct this site is just a terrific source and the members I have had initial contact with , such as yourself , obviously have been just super. Very happy to be part of this.

I also have a 1986 SVO ( Original owner ) and have found the Four Eye Forum site, which I joined two years ago is also a great resource for the Fox Mustangs and Fords. Along with the really nice local Four Eye members I have met via our local cruise nights an old guy like me doesn't feel like there is no place to turn for questions and help.

Again my sincere thanks ! I will go to the web site and purchase the seal , get the 3M from local Body shop supply store and do the replacement within a week. I will let you know how it turns out !!

Thanks !!

Later:
