The TC is perhaps the favorite family vehicle (both wife and 3 yr old daughter LOVE it) but this comes with a bit of frustration. Both of our other cars have LATCH so its very easy to move a seat from one car to the other. Its a bit harder to do with the TC and leaving a seat in isn't possible (for us). I have been gathering hardware for my install and will document it, but, I found this and its already done so why wait for me? Though I've got much larger washers for mine.

Kids??? How bout grandkids???
Yet to ever have one in the TC(other than just in the driveway), but regularly use some adjustable straps to secure a seat in the '93 Lightning Pickup... Three year old granddaughter loves it and the vroom-vroom sound it makes...

Kids i have a 23 year old kid. He definately neads a car seat even at his age. Year its tuff when i was younger i had the same problem. I feal your pain. When we went to car events with my ride wife and kids always came along. Naturally car seats were a given. Looks like you have it all under control. Bin there done it. Good thinking. Tom Senior

Wow, read the link. Some very heated debate on the "self engineered" restraint.
I had to put a few safety belts into machines over the years, retro fits for OH&S regs, and I had the OH&S Engineers come down and have a look. Basically we used a certified "Lifting Eye" shouldered style, put through the Body metal with in our case a 1/4" 4 x 4 plate below to transfer the load over a 16 square inch area. Now we did not design for 50 MPH, but very strong, all the same. THe rest of the system was made of after market (Retro fit) Seat belt hardware from our local ForkLift supply company. ( Be suprised how many choices you have for seat belts in the heavy equipment industry).
IF I were to over engineer his design, I would go with a larger plate or if the sub frame intersects at the right point, go through there.

Like many of the others on here, been there done that. When my kids were little, I put rear seatbelts/car seat holders in the backs of a 36 Ford 2-dr sedan, a 56 Victoria 2-dr hardtop, a 64 Galaxie 2-dr hardtop, etc. My wife wouldn't let the kids ride in any of our old cars unless they had proper car seats, and rightfully so. Anyway, however you do it, just make sure your kids are safe.

I knew the manual talked about that but I thought it was only the tether, on the panel between the back seat and the rear window. If there are prefabbed lower anchors then certainly I'll use those. My manuals are packed in a box somewhere in the basement. Wife won't be happy but its time to start opening boxes...
