Well, did the Tax thing and once again time to allocate $$ to the Tbird. Was gonna sell it but now the wife cracked up the front of her 99 Cougar the day before the Blizzard (No personal injuries just the front end skirt and bumper 1500 bucks )and since we will be using Tax cash on her car I was able to weasel $$ for the TBird. I know, I know, That is pretty low but HEY My Tbird will be running this month Woo Hoo! It has sat now with a slipping clutch since Nov. So I did a search on Zoom clutches didn't see anything also looking at the Star stage 2 with a stage 3 plate. any feedback would be helpful.

For ~$100 over some cheap Pepboys / Autozone replacement that will start slipping with 3lb-ft of torque over stock, you really can't go wrong with some stage of Star clutch if your car's modified at all. The full-faced stage 2 disc will be a little smoother than a full stage 3 puck-style (mine's still a tiiiiiiny bit grabby in reverse), and you won't really feel any extra pedal effort by upgrading to the stage 3 pressure plate, so there's no reason not to. Go for it.

I was thinking of the same clutch/pressure plate for myself. I want a clutch that can take the abuse of the occasional track run and burnout but I don't want it to be too grabby for the street. Does anyone here run a Stage III?

A bunch of us do. Before getting my sentra to start commuting with, I used the TC to make my 130+ mile round trip to school and never had a single complaint about the clutch. At the track, it just plain works.

The only question left to be answered is how long it'll last. I'm sure it won't last as long as an OEM-style clutch would on a stock car, but then again very few of us have stock cars. I tried going the OEM route twice and both clutches grenaded on me in under 6k miles. I've got about 12k troublefree miles on my Stage 3 so far and suspect I'll be racking up quite a few more over upcoming years.

Steve, how was the pedal Pressure? Mostly my TC is around town darting and dashing as my friend calls it. Dont wanna end up with a POPEYE leg from workin the clutch.

Smooth as Silk... Just about the same pressure as the original one. You will not be disappointed. I put one in each of my TC's & would not go with any other brand.

I thought the higher the stage the tougher the clutch is. Am I at a misunderstanding?

My TC is stock and a daily driver with the exception of the occasional dump of the clutch and high speed drive. Would a III last longer than a II with my style of driving?
