Is it possible to take out just the bulb to replace on a foglight on the 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe?
I went to my parts store and asked about getting a replacement bulb and they told me they could only sell me an entirely new lense and bulb and connector, that it only came as a whole unit and not just the bulb.

NEVER EVER listen to anything the idiots at parts stores say. The bulb is easily replacable.

How does it come out? I tried pulling it out and it won't budge. It's in this metal casing..

The bulb is an H-3 consisting of a bulb with a large metal base and an insulated wire with a spade lug. It is held inside the reflector with a spring wire that locks into lugs on the reflector and makes contact with the round metal plate forming part of the base of the bulb. This is the bulb ground connection. Release the spring to remove the bulb. The lead is plugged into the tan/orange wire and the black wire is connected to the reflector.

I don't really understand what you mean.. But what I got from that was how to remove the bulb from the inside of the light. I already know that.
What i'm trying to do it take the bulb out of it's metal casing.

Okay, if you try to separate the bulb from its metal housing you are going to end up in the Hospital with cut to hell fingers when it breaks. Follow the wire back from wha tyou are holding in your hand, there is a connector you just pull apart. Find an H3 bulb at the parts store. Its the new not burned out version of what you are holding in your hand.
