I know I might have to run a smaller radiator like a ranger radiator to get a FMIC to work on my 88 tc. But I was wondering is it possible to retain the a/c condensor?

My FMIC worked fine with the A/C condenser. I have since removed the A/C system, but that was more weight reduction and header clearance than anything else.
I run a same side in/out unit with 3" piping that goes into the fender where the factory airbox used to be.

I suppose it's possible to have clearance issues depending on how your piping is run, but lots of people run FMIC's with the A/C still hooked up and functioning. The FMS system for older birds was A/C compatible. I believe Stinger states on his site that his system works with A/C as well.

Sorry for the late reply, but I can personally attest to the fact that you can retain your AC and still have a nice big FMIC in front of the AC condenser. See THIS ARTICLE on my website for probably more pictures than you want.
In anticipation of the next question, with my aluminum radiator and the 16" fan/custom shroud I built, even with the FMIC the cooling system actually works better than the stock one did!
Cheers!
