Flapping noise when I accelerate... maybe ticking... maybe...

Well, only when I accelerate, and only when I accelereate enough to make it go faster than it is, not like to maintain speed on a flat, my engine will make a flapping/ticking noise... like something is going round and round and hitting something else as I accelerate. I fear that it is really bad... but I want to find out what it coud be and get it checked out. I know I need a new serpentine belt... can that be it? Well, let me know please.

My car started doing the same. It turned out to be the serpentine belt. A string came loose from it and started slapping around in the engine compartment. So, yes, that could be it...

When it does this, see if you can get it to come and go by pressing the clutch pedal lightly. I have a bad shift fork and/or throwout bearing, it chirps and occasionally it makes a tapping/flapping noise during acceleration. Lightly touching the pedal makes it go away though.

Oh I've had that cricket noise problem for forever... and yes the cricket noise goes away by pressing the clutch ever so slightly (which btw will kill your clutch just holding it even slightly.) But the flapping noise doesn't.
