firm ride light blinking

Just a quick question. I'm not sure if all the engine codes use the firm ride light or the check engine light, (which I would have expected). My firm ride light has been blinking every once in a while. It blinks twice, has about a 30 sec. pause, then blinks twice again. However, if I turn on my prc, then switch it back off again, the signal stops. It's only done this twice in about two days, and I'm at a loss.

Thanks if you can help.

Sorry Pete. Thanks though. I know, I've just commited one of the ultimate NATO evils. [Image: wink.gif]

My shocks are working fine. while on it's like riding on rails. Really bumpy rails. I'll go check it out.

So, code 2 is 'fault in the RH rear activator circuit'. Where should I look first. Is it normal for the fault to go away when you togle the firm switch on and off?

I went out for a looooooooooooong cruise last night, and got in at about 2:45am. The light never flashed once. I did, however, encounter two '87-'88 TC's. One silver and one medium red. No real races last night. Just some cat and mouse games with various types.

First, the PRC computer doesnt know anything about the condition of the shocks / struts, so shot ones will not trigger PRC codes.

There is about a 5 page troubleshooting flowchart for a code 2, but the usual cause is a bad PRC activator motor. Either themotor is not working / sticking sometimes, or the limit switch that tells the PRC computer the motors position is gummed up.

If the motor / limit switch is sticky, switching the PRC switch from auto to firm will often clear the code at least for a while.

One sure test of the activator motor is to switch it with another one (switch RH rear with LH rear), and see if you get a code for LH rear activator. If so, either get a "new" activator, or take it apart and clean it up.... a while back there was a big discussion of how to do that, complete with pics.

Thanks a lot guys. I went out cruising again last night. This time with Ange. Anywho, the car's running fine. I haven't gotten the code again, but I will find the time over the next few weeks to check the actuators/clean them up.
