Wish I took more pictures but oh well. I've had a volvo fmic laying around for a long time now. I kept telling myself just buy a big ass fmic and be done with it. I know the volvo FMIC isnt good for high boost but with my little IHI I think ill be okay for now. Overall the install went very smooth. I had to ditch the condenser and since my A/C never worked I ditched everything A/C related under the hood. I put in a 94 explorer radiator which is the thicker of the ford radiators that work in our cars. After yanking the stock radiator and fan assembly I had tons of room. The only real modification I had to do was drill some holes to suit the two plastic studs sticking out on the bottom of the new radiator. I found some rubber grommets for the studs so it wasn't direct plastic on metal. After bending the condenser brackets a little bit they worked perfect for holding the Volvo FMIC in place. The power steering line had to be bent a little because it was rubbing on the FMIC. Amazingly the stock hoses worked with very minimal cutting. I cut the stock fan harness connector and soldered it to my new universal fan to keep my stock harness in tact.

I dont have pipes yet as im on a budget. Im either ordering Stingers kit or piecing it together in the next few weeks. Also still need figure out what to do with blow off valve or bypass valve

So I got everything in. Install went very smooth. Im noticing on the highway now my car was hitting almost 210 degrees where as before with my stock setup it wouldn't get that close. The fan is setup to pull air and I can feel the air pulling towards the engine. I made sure to get the air out of the cooling system and its topped off. My fan is set to kick on at 195F per stingers documentation with the PIMP system. And setting it lower would cause a conflict with the stock thermostat.

I do not have the shroud on the top like on the stock fan assembly. I was wondering how much of a impact that would cause? Im also missing the lower air dam from a previous owner ripping it off along with the lower mount on the bumper. I know someone who has a spare air damn we can possibly rig up and also a ranger upper shroud to keep the air flow like stock. I don't know if it will help but its worth a shot. The fan I have is cheapo unit that claims 1730 CFMs. Another thought was putting the fan in front of the volvo fmic and blowing towards the engine but that's not how it was setup on stock. Any advice is appreciated..I did not change the thermostat as well because it is less than a year old and I never had a issue prior to this.

I don't think it looks bad at all. If it were chrome, that would be a different story. I hate chrome grills on these cars (no offense to '83-'84 owners Big Grin ).

X3.. mine is painted, too. And even some trucks look goofy with chrome grills.

And I think the car looks much better with the non-tc header. I've never understood the appeal of the smooth tc header panels
