fan relay question

im thinking about running a pair of fan relays to control the stock fans in the TC

my question is, is it possible to still use the EEC to trigger the aftermarket relays?

such as using the signal wires for the IRCM to kick the aftermarket relays

Why? Is the IRCM fried? Short answer is yes, you could wire up such a circuit, but to make it fail-safe like the one in the IRCM is you'll have to copy the IRCM circuitry. BTW, just FYI, the IRCM circuit is given in the tech article here .

yes, one of the relays in my IRCM is done for, and i would much rather run my own relays that i could replace, or modify in my own way, rather than messing with factory stuff

how would you go about mocking the factory system? i was assuming it would be like any other relay, hot in, ground in, signal, hot out, and i was hoping signal would be from the EEC

damn im the suck with electronics

Actually there is no reason you couldn't remove the original relay(s) and run wires out to a external relay with a plug. The orig's have four connections, like most aftermarket relays. Only difference I know of is they have smaller pins to mount on the PCB..

Why not just grab an IRCM or 2 at the JY out of a late 80s / early 90s Taurus/Sable. They are the same as the TC.

its just not how i want to do it, id prefer to have the external relays, especially if i decide to run some other fans, or something similar, i would be messing with my own wiring, rather than hacking up a factory harness

im trying to avoid messing with the IRCM's, id rather not crack into one, even though i have a spare, its just not something i want to tear into

id also hate to run a bunch of aftermarket thermostat switches and stuff
