Fellow Nato members,

I ordered today the hood insulation from Classic Cars Unlimited. They make a repro insulation kit for the 83-86 Bird. The seem to be the same as the ones I saw on the 87 in Pete's car, except for the ducting cutout. I have 2 ripped ones & plan on making a templete of them to see if I can cut the new one to match the original ones. If it works, I'll post my results & provide anyone a templete who would like to do this. The only thing is that they most likely will not have the embossed logo, but I have one with it & one without, so it should not be a big deal.....unless someone hear knows how to emboss them. I will post when it arrives.

She looks so SWEET. Now I need to make some more HP & make the engine look good.

I'd definitely like to know how this comes out. I need to replace my hood liner in the near future.

I have replaced the hood insulation pad recently on my '88 TC. I ordered a hood pad for a 1978 Cadillac DeVille, and cut it to fit from the old pattern. Works well, looks good. Cutting the duct opening is no problem, and the fasteners are readily available. The new pad is one big piece, and you will have some left over. The pad cost about $65. from the GM dealer. Well I finally finshed this experiment. Tell me what you guys think? I'm not sure if it's worth the money, cause I feel it does not fit like the original one. I have pics of the whole process & a templete for future installs.

Looks great, especially compared to an old ratty one.

What is the overall dimension of the factory liner?

Looks like you did a first rate job. Did you seal the cut edges with something to keep them from seperating? Just a thought that is a place where there might be trouble down thr road I was thinking spray underseal the rebberized version might bond and seal at same time just a thought Bill
