Exhaust???

I have still have the stock exhaust on my car. I was wondering what should I go with? I heard 2 1/2" is good enough, it just limits the amount of hp I can get out of my car, like if I went w/ 3" exhaust then I'd be able to get more hp but it doesnt create any more hp? I know that is confusing but I dont know how to put it. So anyways, what should I go w/, I still would like the 3" downpipe, but then I'd need a new cat. Where would I be able to buy a Cat that has the 3" in-2 1/2" out. Cause I was planning on going w/ the 3" downpipe, high flow cat, dynomax mufflers, and 2 1/2 the rest of the way. Hows that sound? Is there a exhaust kit or would u have to get your exhaust custom put on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pat Everyone seems to agree that a 3" single outflows a 2 1/2" dual system. Kinda hard to make a 4 sound like an 8. With a good 3" cat and a Walker Dynoflow muffler it will sound good, breathe well and let the turbo spool up a bit faster. 3" downpipe is a must!

Send me an email off board and I'll detail the set up that I currently have on my car. It's a dual system much like the one you are looking for.

Pat,

I bought my ATR 3" single system from Pat who posts on turboford.org (his e-mail is [email protected])

He sold it to me for $50 less than if I bought it directly from ATR.

I have it along w/ a 3" downpipe and a 3" Catco converter.

I've gotten comments that it sounds like an 8. It's definitely louder, but not annoyingly loud and certainly not like a farting rice burner. Good idle sound too.

ATR's web site is <a href="http://www.atrperformance.com/tc.html">www.atrperformance.com</a>
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.

About how much HP will the entire 3" single exhaust from ATR give me, including downpipe, cat, and mufflers?

I have seen post on TurboFord.org about Pat or Pnrvegas. Does he have a website or a business name? ATR exhaust is also on my short list.

I have the ATR stainless steel 2 1/2" dual after cat with the ATR SS straight thru mufflers, 3" DP, and 3" Catco cat also. It is not as loud as you would think it would be, but it sounds nice and mean. Kind of like a V8 without the real low frequency burble. Sounds NOTHING like the fart pipe rice burners. Also, being stainless, it is easy to polish the back ends of the pipes to make it look even better. You can see what the ATR system looks like exiting the back of my car on one of the pics over in the showroom.

As for HP improvement, no numbers to back it up, but I did get a seat of the pants improvement in power, and the turbo spools up faster than with the stock restrictive exhaust. I would guess about 10 or 15 HP over the stock system.
