AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR AWHILE AND ENGINE GETS WARM, I SHUT IT OFF AND SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE HOOD SCOOPS. IT ALSO HAPPENS SOMETIMES WHEN STOPPING AT A READ LIGHT. ANY IDEAS OR THINGS A NEED TO LOOK FOR? I DO NOT SEE ANY OF THE MAIN ENGINE GASKETS LEAKING.

I would have to say that it is leaking oil and burning it you just can't see the smoke because it blows out the back when you are moving along. Once after changing oil I spilt a little and tried to wipe it all up but I must have missed some. Anyway it had the same symptoms. But I knew why. Also make sure your dipstick is in securely. If it is loose oil will blow out and burn. Check around the turbo for oil leaking.

Just went through engine swap with a wrecked 1987 Turbocoupe. Going to become a street legal racecar to tinker with. Have a T3 waiting to go in when I get everything ironed out.

It also depends what color the smoke is and how it smells. If it's a sweet smelling smoke, it would be coming from a leak in your cooling system somewhere (most likely one of the rubber coolant hoses leading to the radiator or the little 90º bend on the front passenger side of the engine).

Leaky valve cover gasket leaking on to the exhaust manifold? LEaky turbo oil supply line leaking onto the hot turbo?

I had a smoking problem a while back also. Check the oil lines for the turbo first. I had tiny crack I could hardly see in the crankcase vent-return line and it cause me problems for months before I decided to actually check it closely. Remember that only a little bit of oil is needed to make a bunch of smoke. Hope this is helpful.

Mine was doing it and I snugged down the valve cover bolts to stop it. Don't overtighten if it's the original gasket and it has lots of miles on it.
