engine question

Ok guys, I am sorry in advance that I can't describe this better. I am not technical.

I am driving my car. It seems to be fine all in all, except for the wierd electrical things... until this. I don't know what it is, or if it is a big deal.

I am going down the highway. The turbo engages (not a ton of boast, but it is an auto). I get to the "Cruising speed" of 65 or so. I generally drop the car into overdrive so that the engine is not running so high. The RPM will go from 3000 to 2000-2500. Here comes the problem. It seems like the engine "surges". The car does not jerk. It is not like that, but I can hear it in the engine. I can hear that it is reving higher and then dropping down. The RMP needle shows it as well. Not a ton, but around 300-400 difference. It is almost like when it needs to shift into another gear and then does not. It just makes the 'urrrr-urrrr' sound and it just seems that it is working too hard. It had not done this before, but I only have about 200 miles on this engine since it has been put into the this car. What is this? Any ideas? Please tell me it is not major!

I'd guess it's the tranny. Try changing the fluid and see if that helps...

It has new fluid in it from the engine swap.

Then could it be the tranny itself? I'm not too familiar with the autos but could it be a malfunction in the OD

In talking with my hubby, we came to the conclusion that it most likely the tranny (which I feared). He asked if it is like I have kicked the car into nuetral and the engine races... yes. That is it. Now.... will this get worse if I drive my car? Do I have to let it sit again until I can get it fixed?

You should be able to drive it if you want to risk it. Just don't put it into the problem gear, that being overdrive. I think you'd be safe with that.
