Has anyone used any Oil additives in their TC's?I added a bottle of VERY thick ooze that is supposed to quiet down engine noise.I cant remember what brand, but it was highly recommended.....I find it stunning coincedence that 2 seperate turbo's have fried out sense. My mechanic assures me he made sure oil was going through the return line but who knows?Could i be on to something,or do i just have incredibly bad luck!

On the other hand though...when my turbos fried out they both blew incredible amounts of blue smoke while on their last leg.Guess that means they had some oil passing through??

well how much "ooze" did you use. I did some research online and found out that lucas oil stabalizer puts air into the oil making it foamy. I wouldnt use any additive except regular motor oil. If you have motor noise you should probably figure out what the problem is and not hide it. if you are running to thin of an oil say 10W30 in the middle of summer then upgrade to 20W50 or something thicker.

But on the other defense my uncle who uses lucas in each oil change for his 55 blown 383 belair his 71 BB nova, and his dualy pickup truck. without any problem s for years. and swears by it

It was the lucas that i used.Im not sure the noise is even coming from the motor anymore. It only make a slight rapping noise when the car starts to make boost, then gets quiet again,it was probably the turbo.

I'm told the oil passages in a turbo are pretty small. Not using a new return line may have cotributed particles that blocked those passages. If that was the case, adding oil thickner wouldn't help.

It may have been the additive causing your turbos to go out then again maybe not. I and a friend of mine used to use Lucas. Then my wifes car threw a rod with no warning, just driving down the road. Still had oil pressure and still ran with the gapping hole in the side of the block. Then less than a week later, my friend threw rods in 2 cars. One was driving down the highway and one was in his racecar. The car he was driving down the highway still had oil pressure and still ran with the gapping hole in the side of his block just like mine did. It could have been coincidence, but we both stopped using Lucas and have not thrown any rods since. I just use straight synthetic in all my engines now. Keeps the engines clean and quiet and also has improved the gas mileage on all my vehicles. Just my thoughts on the subject...Tommy

Tell me about it. That is why my friend and I quit using Lucas oil additive. It was just too much of a coincidence. I don't know if that was the cause, but we both used it and had the same problems. I don't use oil additives anymore. Learned my lesson the hard way in my opinion....Tommy

Oil additives shouldn't be necessary. Our turbos last years with regular oil changes and no additives. With that said, I have used Slick 50 in some very old high mileage engines and think it really helps smooth out the engine and cut back on oil comsumption. Never used the Lucas.
