emergency brakes

Just getting ready to put 88 Turbobird on road for my kid who just got started driving. Since he is learning clutch I feel obliged to get emergency brake working in spite of what I read in the message archives (most just forget them). Anyway I got the new cables and ran them (probably won't replace front one after tearing everything to get at it). Any rate things don't match up even though I match it up to the repair book (but not very detailed). Can anyone send me a picture of a working set-up? How the cables come together underneath.

Pete do you have 1987 E brake pic still. I could use it while the bird is up on stilts.

For the life of me, I still dont understand how that system works. I just did mine today, and took it off, put it back the same, and they do work, but man, is that a mess down there where the cables come together.

god i hate those cables! i've never been able to get the cable re-attached to the pedal! im gonna try taking the entire pedal and housing off, then reattaching it this summer. I hate when crap is that difficult to do - like honeslty, it makes me wanna drive someting from the 40s - you could probly hide a body or two under the dash with all that empty space [Image: wink.gif]

Others have reported that is how they did it.

Glassrooster, check your email. If it didn't come through let me know. We lost power just as I sent it.

The good news: park brake pedal bracket is only attached with 3 bolts. The bad news: they are fairly difficult to get to. I suggest pulling out the drivers seat to make it easier to get under the dash.

Seat removal is easy. Run seat back, remove front (2) bolts. Run seat forward, remove rear bolts (2). Tilt seat forward, disconnect electrical connectors, lift seat out. Takes less than 10 minutes
