Electronic Climate Code...01

hey everyone,
I checked my electronic climate code finally while it was blinking.... it pulled the code 01. When working fine, i get no error as my code. But.. if i'm not mistaken, the code 01 is the blend door actuator. But...... What in the hell is that, and what does it do or what's it's purpose. My climate kicks on by itself sometimes(while in off mode), and just wondered if this was the reason why or somehow related in any way. Just curious to see how much detail and money that it would take to fix.... however... i need to replace the heater core and also recharge & convert to the R134a for the a/c compressor. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. i see a new turbo coupe owner in town(Springdale, OH)Who are you???. I just need to be driving the TC to get your attention huh??

As far as I know blend door actuator opens and closes the Blend door which mixes the heat and A/C to give you the temp set on the controller. Mine is rusted from a previously leaking heater core causing it to hang. It would cause the system come on by itself.
hope that helps. Its a tuff system to diagnose
